Suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)? The Low FODMAP Diet can help alleviate your symptoms and provide long-lasting relief. The Low FODMAP Lifestyle app, developed by Lifeplano, is an invaluable tool for easily identifying high FODMAP and low FODMAP foods.

Taking into account one of our founders' personal experience with IBS and the low FODMAP diet, we fully understand the challenges that come with following such a restrictive eating plan. However, with the Low FODMAP Lifestyle app, we have simplified the process.

Functionalities:

  • Comprehensive low FODMAP food list
  • Personalized testing of each food
  • Over 40 delicious recipes
  • Essential information about IBS and FODMAPs

What is IBS - Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

IBS is a condition that affects the digestion of certain carbohydrates, including Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Mannitols, and Polyols. The specific carbohydrates that cause reactions can vary from person to person, as can the severity of the response. As a result, following a low FODMAP diet is highly individualized.

According to experts at Australia's Monash University, an estimated 1 in 7 individuals suffer from IBS, primarily in Western countries.

What is the Low FODMAP Diet?

The Low FODMAP Diet was developed by Monash University as a means to identify and manage specific carbohydrates and foods that trigger gut reactions. It consists of three phases:

  1. The elimination phase: This initial stage involves removing FODMAPs from your diet until symptoms subside.
  2. The reintroduction phase: In this phase, you gradually reintroduce different carbohydrates to identify which ones cause reactions.
  3. The personal diet phase: Once you have determined your personal tolerances, you can follow an individualized diet. However, since IBS can evolve over time, periodic retesting of foods is necessary.

Our app also allows you to test new foods and drinks that have not yet been assessed for their FODMAP content. For example, you can check the FODMAP levels in processed items like Pepsi or ketchup.

Although the low FODMAP diet may initially seem restrictive to newcomers, research has shown that restrictive diets are often the most challenging to adhere to. With the Low FODMAP Lifestyle app, we have worked to make the diet more accessible and less restrictive. By incorporating our low FODMAP recipes into your weekly meal plan and regularly testing new foods, you can create a personal diet and low FODMAP food list that works for you.
